Holy cow!!

It's been over a year since I posted here. How did I let this happen? But a lot has happened since then. Let me fill you in...

First off I found a full time job. Yay! It's amazing and I love it. Then I decided I wanted to go to law school. So I took the LSAT first in October. Then in December. Fast forward to 2012, I applied to law schools, got into law schools, and am in the process of moving from beautiful VA to NC in a few weeks. Whew! Got all that?

In between there I had the normal ups and downs of life. Deaths, births, weddings, work frustration, life frustration, happy times, and so on. But I'm back. Hopefully for good.

So here's what the new thing is going to be. Crafting. Life. Weight Loss. All of the above. So it'll be a mixture. So I hope you enjoy the ride with me. Feel free to leave me notes (I love notes), and hopefully I'll have some good stuff to share.

Till tomorrow then!

My Art Wall....the latest incarnation

Happy Monday Ya'll!!

Seriously that's the only time you'll here me say that. I may be from Texas but I don't say ya'll. And I'm only doing so now because I've had so little sleep. Yay for the early shift at work!

But on to the real subject of this post. Art Walls. I love me some art walls. I collected prints and postcards and cards and the like all through college, and so when I moved into my apartment had a trash bag full of potential wall coverings. And since I'm a grown up now, I decided hanging pictures with ticky tac was no longer an option and wanted to frame them. And so I did. And it has had several incarnations. Right now I'm on the third.

Here's the first.

The Christmas decorations of course aren't a normal part of the wall :)

And it wasn't until I was putting together this one, that I realized I hadn't taken a picture of the second incarnation. But anyways, here's the third....

Sorry had to take a picture of Rainbow Fish. Because Rainbow Fish makes everyone happy :)

But I didn't get the idea for this myself. I wish I were that creative, but sadly I'm not. I got the idea from the awesome people at Young House Love (have I mentioned how awesome they are. Plus the have the most adorable baby)

They did this awesome hallway... and to make it better...it's on both sides

But anyways this is mostly to show that anyone can do this, no matter how small the budget. Every single frame I bought on sale. Most for $5 at Michaels. And most of the 'art' I already had, and the rest were postcards, printouts, and awesome pics taken by my creative BF.

But I'll keep going on the wall till it's as awesome as that one. And covers as much of the wall as theirs. And that's all I've got for today! I'm off to go to bed soon so I can get up uber early again tomorrow. :)

Things I love Tuesday

So I know it's been a long time since I've posted. But today I have my recent inspiration and loves.

1. I adore this nook from Anthropologie. Partially because I've been lusting after the comforter and partially because I love little nooks like this. 2. I've also been lusting after this shower curtain for months and months. I think it's the reason my shower has remained with a plain one for so long. 3. A totally awesome blog I recently discovered. They have a ton of awesome ideas and on top of that, they have a completely adorable baby and dog. Go here to see cuteness. 4. I love love love this idea for a coat rack from here. It was actually made as a towel rack, but I think it would make an awesome coat rack. Let the thrifting begin! 5. I love the new little badge type embellishments all over the scrapbook world right now. And this tutorial is amazing. I've got a couple of swaps coming up that I think I'm going to use this for. 6. I've been admiring this skirt tutorial from Anna Maria Horner and have actually attempted to make one, but that's another story for another time :)  7. This is an awesome tutorial for the shower curtain I've been lusting after. As soon as I have money and access to a machine I'm going to work on this. 8. And finally there's this tutorial that I've also attempted lately. But again, that's another story for another day. Maybe tomorrow.

So hopefully I'll be posting more lately. Work is still kinda crazy, but I'm hoping to be able to make time. I'm also working on making a cool header and such for the blog. It might take awhile, so bear with me.  Plus I've got my crazy mishaps to share with you all, so you can learn from my mistakes. :) And maybe give me some pointers as to what to do next time. Or just laugh and point. Any of those are options, for you my dear readers. If there's any out there.

Yet another new project...

It's been a few days since my last post. I got caught up in the craziness of life. Which for me means work and spending time with my bf. And I kinda go off the map when I do that. But working has given me time to start a new project. Yay!

So Sundays (well most Sunday's at least) I have the fun fun job of running the board for nascar races at the radio station where I work. And as someone who's not the biggest nascar fan (or really no fan of nascar at all), it gets really boring really quickly. So I decided I wanted to do some sort of project while working. Which leads me to my latest, a new embroidery project. I'd post a pic, but it's going to be a gift and I don't want to spoil the surprise.

But that's what I've been up to lately. I hope everyone has a lovely day, and an enjoyable Spring Break for those lucky college kids who still get one :)

And it continues...

I've learned one thing this past year. Crafting on a budget means that the projects take that much longer. Especially when you're saving up for things or waiting for coupons. So that's my way of saying that my coat rack isn't finished yet.

I did however finish another project that I started yesterday.

The careful observer might notice that there were two boards in the paint picture and I said I was only making one coat rack/hangy thingy. Well the other board was for a shelf. Which I finished today. I got the idea off someone's blog and as soon as I find it again, I'll link to it. I just hate to steal someone's idea without giving them credit. But here's the finished product.

Stupid sideways picture

Yes, that is a rubber duck. And no, he is not a part of my scrapbook supplies. It's a loooong story.

I rearranged my living room this weekend, and put my scrapbook stuff against the wall. With that I wanted shelves to put up there to hold some stuff (like glitter and little things that always stay out) but didn't want to pay a lot for them. So for a total of about $10 I made this. And I'm quite happy and proud of myself. I'm planning on putting at least one more up above it to make it look a little less lonely. And now that I know how to do it and have the other supplies, it's off to Lowes with my little self!

BTW, everyone should check out the 30 days of lists challenge here. It's a really awesome idea, and if you don't want to do it this month, write down the prompts and do it next month. Either way, just do it.

:D

What I've been up to

Basically at this point it's just painted boards...but hopefully at least one of them will soon look like this. Just have to say, kudos and thanks to Casa Sugar for the tutorial. Takes a lot of the guess work out of this. (also, I'd like to point out to my bf that I finally found a use for the packing material from my couch. Saving stuff works!)

Now that I have those painted and have braved the hardware store, the fun part of shopping for knobs comes. I love anthropologie's selection of hardware. Love love love. And wanted to use them on my cupboards when I moved into my apartment, but alas, there are no knobs or pulls on my cabinets. But I've found an excuse to buy some. And I'm in love with several.

I adore daisies so this is a no brainer

I'm thinking one with my initial and one with my bf's initial so he has a place to hang his coat when he comes over.

can you tell I like pink?

Too many to choose!!!

But hopefully it will be done soon and I'll post pics. :)

Machines, thread, and fabric, oh my!!

So I'm still fairly new to sewing (I've been sewing off and on for a few years) but I'm just now doing it more and more. And since I moved to VA, I've lost access to my mom's wonderful sewing machine. So I'm on the prowl for a machine. And I've fallen in love

It's the Janome DC2011. And it's beautiful. You can find out more about it here. I tried it out in a store a few days ago and it just ran like a dream. I was trying to stay away from computerized machines, but the ease of use, and the fact that it can do layers of denim and satin, just did it in for me. And to top it all off, it's pink. What can I say? My heart has been stolen.
